We began work on Rachel's engine rebuild today, after months of waiting for parts.
The day began with me going to open the van, only to find a squatter inside. (Apologies for internet cat pictures).
After the laughter settled we persuaded the cat out of the cab and began work cleaning out the waterways, which were still quite clogged with [something]. A bit of pressure washing later and the engine block was clean.
The next few hours were spent doing further cleaning of the bottom half of the engine, before opening the box of new parts:
Eventually Frank put the new crankshaft into place (you may remember that the old one got gouged fairly badly by my dodgy big end bearing).
After persuasion he used a torque wrench, and at the end of play we had the new crank shaft in.
I also did a little bit of painting, turning the sump (probably temporarily) yellow.
